WordPress Manage Categories;- What are Categories in WordPress? Category in WordPress means that a class or people or things or subject is divided into a group and the same different group is called a category.

Such as; – If we want to write some posts about Health, Blogging, Technology, then we will create a separate category of Health so that only people can get information about Health and there is no other Topic Mix.

If we want to write a post about Blogging, then we will create a separate category of Blogging. If we want to tell people about technology, then we will create a separate category of technology.

Category splits individual posts into different groups. The advantage of creating a category is that no subject is mixed with another subject. All subjects can be kept separately, by creating a category with different names.

WordPress add Category

Creating categories in WordPress is considered very difficult by people, but creating categories is not as difficult as people think. It is very easy to create a category, so let’s tell you how to create a category in WordPress.

One thing we should know is that categories are not created on the page. Only post categories are created.

If we write a post without creating a category, then that post will be saved in Uncategorised. In WordPress, we get an already created Uncategorized section.

We can rename that Uncategorised as per our own. We can create a category in two ways. The first way is by going to the section of the category and the second way is by going to the section of the post.

The first way to create a WordPress category;-

The first way to add a category is;- First we have to log in to our WordPress, after that we will enter our WordPress dashboard. After that in the WordPress Dashboard, we will see a black SideBar on the left side.

In that Side Bar, we will see a Post Option. At that post, we have to place our mouse pointer. After that, we will see an option of Categories. He has to click. You can see in the picture shown above.

After that a new page will be open after the new page opens, we will see 4 options.

(1) Name; – In Name, we have to write the name of the category, such as; – If we are making our post about health, then we will create a health category.

(2) Slug;- In Slug we have to write the same name that we have written in the name as Health

(3) Parent Category;- Parent Category is also known as Main Category or Nested Category. The category which is inside the Parent Category, we call it Child Category or Sub-Category.

If we have to insert a category inside a category, then we have to select the one in the Parent category option instead of the none in which you want to put a category separately. You can see in the picture shown above.

(4) Description;- In the description, we have to tell the user about whom this category is about, as if this category is about health, then we have to write in the description that this category is about health and all the content of health. You can write anything according to yourself.

(5) Add New Category;- After that, we have to click on Add New Category. Now a category of ours has been prepared. By adopting this same process, we can create many categories. Even if we do not write anything in the description, there is no problem. But this is to tell the users what this category is about.

The second way to create a WordPress category;-

We have to log in to our WordPress. After that, we will see our WordPress dashboard. If you are already login in your WordPress, your WordPress dashboard is visible, then there is no need to log in again.

After that, the post option will be seen in the sidebar of the WordPress Dashboard. Put your mouse pointer on that post. After that, we will see the option of Add New. On that Add New option, we have to click.

After that, a new page will open. That page will be for writing posts. On the right side of that page, a category option will appear, below that the option of Add New Category will be seen, you can create your category by clicking it. Can be seen in the picture shown above.

Edit Categories WordPress

If we have to change or rename a category, then we must first go to our WordPress dashboard.

After that, there will be a post option in the Side Bar of WordPress Dashboard. We have to place our mouse pointer on it, after that we will see the category option. The category has to be clicked. After that, a new page will be open.

WordPress Category List; – After that, any category we have created so far on our website will show the entire category list. You can see in the picture shown above.

After that, by changing the name of the category we want to change, we can change the name easily by going to Quick Edit. You can see in the picture shown above.

Get all categories WordPress

Whatever category we keep, it also comes in the URL of our post. We can also remove the category name in the URL of our post. If we have to rank our post, then the category name has to be removed from the post’s URL. We can also add an image to our category.
