Nikki Haley, the former U.N. Ambassador and Governor of South Carolina, currently vying for the Republican presidential nomination, adopted a candid approach during the inaugural Republican presidential primary debate. She launched into a vigorous critique of her fellow GOP contenders, touching on subjects such as the nation’s economic condition and the Ukraine situation.

In a subsequent interview on “CBS Mornings,” Haley reiterated her stances. She maintained her critique of former President Donald Trump, the leading GOP candidate who was absent from the debate.

However, when pressed about Trump’s actions and statements, she evaded direct answers. Haley refrained from expressing whether she believes Trump poses a threat to democracy or if she wants him to cease his unfounded claims about the 2020 election results.

Nevertheless, Haley asserted her belief that Trump won’t be a driving force for progress and renewal in the country. She expressed, “He’s consistent in his communication style.” She declined to engage in discussions about contested election results, focusing instead on addressing the real concerns of American families who are currently struggling.

During the debate, Haley indicated her willingness to endorse Trump as the Republican nominee for the 2024 election, even if he faces legal consequences from ongoing criminal cases. Additionally, she disclosed her intention to grant him a pardon if she were to assume the presidency, emphasizing the importance of national reconciliation.

Haley also spotlighted Trump’s fiscal track record, singling out her rivals, including Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, and former Vice President Mike Pence, for their roles in legislation that contributed to the national debt. She directed particular attention to Trump’s administration, which saw an accumulation of $8 trillion in debt during his tenure.

In terms of foreign policy, Haley firmly advocated for a strong stance on matters involving China and Ukraine. On the topic of Ukraine, she proposed a balance between economic aid and military support, underscoring the importance of providing the necessary equipment and ammunition for their defense efforts.
